We are looking for a Tax Senior to join our Private Client Group at our Woking head office, taking ownership of a portfolio of personal tax clients and providing a clear step up for an already-qualified tax professional. The role includes some exposure to corporate tax work, direct client relationship management, and the mentoring of more junior team members, with a defined progression route to Manager.

Offering a competitive salary (£50,000 – £60,000 experience dependent), this is an office-based role at our Woking head office, with on-site parking available and a standard pension scheme after the probationary period. Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients with autonomy, including high-net-worth individuals, company directors and landlords
  • Reviewing work prepared by associates and trainees, providing constructive feedback and on-the-job training
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities and raising them with the Senior Tax Adviser or Partner for discussion with the client
  • Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns, P11Ds and PAYE coding notices for more complex clients
  • Direct client relationship management, including face-to-face meetings, correspondence and telephone advice
  • Monitoring work against budget, identifying additional work and agreeing it with the Partner before it is undertaken
  • Ensuring statutory deadlines and billing targets are met across the portfolio
  • Keeping up to date with relevant changes to tax legislation and supporting the wider team on technical queries

Experience and Skills Required:

  • CTA qualified (or ATT with significant post-qualification experience), with 2-3 years PQE in a practice environment
  • Evidence of client portfolio ownership and direct client relationship management
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK personal tax, with some exposure to corporate tax beneficial
  • Knowledge of TaxFiler, IRIS Elements or similar tax software
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional telephone manner
  • Strong attention to detail, methodical working, and good judgement
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload, including supporting more junior colleagues

  • Must be entitled to work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship)
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence
  • Must already be established within commuting distance of Woking; we are unable to support relocation, and this is not a remote role
