Tax Associate
We are looking for a Tax Associate to join our Private Client Group at our Woking head office, supporting our Senior Tax Adviser with a varied portfolio of personal tax clients and some exposure to corporate tax work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two completed tax seasons under their belt who is either working towards an ATT or CTA qualification, or already qualified by experience and looking to continue developing technically in a supportive, well-established practice.
Offering a competitive salary (£32,000 – £36,000 experience dependent), this is an office-based role at our Woking head office, with on-site parking available and a standard pension scheme after the probationary period. For candidates part-way through their studies, we offer a sponsored study package through BPP. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Preparing and submitting personal tax returns, P11Ds and supporting client correspondence
- Reviewing and amending PAYE coding notices
- Handling day-to-day client queries promptly and attending client meetings under supervision
- Maintaining accurate client files and ensuring statutory deadlines and billing targets are met
- Monitoring work against budget and flagging additional work before it is undertaken
- Keeping up to date with relevant changes to tax legislation and supporting the wider team on ad hoc technical work

Experience and Skills Required:
- At least 2 completed tax seasons of practical experience, or working towards an ATT/CTA qualification
- 8 GCSEs (including A or above in Maths and English) and 3 A-Levels at grade B or above; a 2:1 degree is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of TaxFiler, IRIS Elements or similar tax software is preferable
- Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional telephone manner
- Strong attention to detail, methodical working, and good judgement
- Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure

- Must be entitled to work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship)
- Must hold a valid UK driving licence
- Must already be established within commuting distance of Woking; we are unable to support relocation, and this is not a remote role
